Geraldine and Damian tied the knot on a hot spring day in the conservatory at the delightful Crab Manor. They then celebrated in style at the Crab & Lobster restaurant with its quirky interior and gorgeous food.

Geraldine had selected a slim fitting lace dress and jacket which we complimented with a short tumbling shower bouquet. The design included calla lilies, roses, dendrobium orchids, soft foliages and delicate gold pearl beads – very classic and beautifully elegant.

With ivory rose buttonholes to match, we continued the theme and created a lovely ‘long & low’ table arrangement with plenty of soft flowing foliages. This was use as the Registrars table display and then moved to decorate the top table.

The guest tables were decorated with simple cubes of large headed ivory roses and smaller cubes containing pearl beads and floating candles. The venue added even more nightlight candles creating a truly lovely atmosphere for the meal. By all accounts everyone had a wonderful time and a thoroughly brilliant day.

Sometimes the late autumn months surprise us with a beautifully sunny day. Gillian and David had wonderful sunshine which helped to create a very pretty day for their stylish eco-friendly wedding.

Gillian chose a classic white and green flower theme to sit with her mint green bridesmaid dresses. David grows house-leek succulents as a hobby and they were very keen to use these within the table centres so that the guests could take away living planters as a memento of the day.

I suggested we include the house leek plants within the actual bouquets and buttonholes. They looked so lovely and really added a quirky twist to the designs which became a real talking point on the day.

I made unusual ‘bird’s nest’ cages from green dogwood for the bridesmaids to carry and planted a large house leek into the centre of each. The cages were lined with moss from the ‘Simply Foliage’ girls who have a licence to collect from Ilkley Moor. Gillian’s Dad supplied me with home-grown honesty and bay leaves, and I added ivy and twigs collected from hedgerows near the venue.

We were very proud to have used just one piece of wire in the whole wedding (to hold the house leek in the groom’s buttonhole!). All other designs were held together with twine and clever threading. A great achievement and everything came together to create a very stylish day.

Sophie had chosen a rich blue shade for her bridesmaid’s dresses and we created striking bouquet designs using striking hydrangea, agapanthus and alliums with bold loops of grasses.

We debated including a number of white or ivory flowers in the designs. I strongly felt that sticking to just to blues and purples would give the flowers more impact on the day and the final effect was brilliant. Sophie chose a white hydrangea and orchid bouquet to fit with her beautiful dress from wedding couture designer Anita Massarella. Anita can be contacted at www.anitamassarella.com

All flowers were arranged in a loose country style with a lovely mix of trailing amaranthus, soft asparagus fern and sculptural twisted willow twigs.

Sophie and Nick had a great day and I really enjoyed working with a couple brave enough to really ‘go for it’ when it came to the use of colour throughout their day. It can make such a difference…..

All flowers were arranged with a lovely mix of autumnal leaves, delicate twigs and a few loops of flexi-grass to add a contemporary touch to an otherwise classic theme. We filled a pretty basket with single hop heads for guests to throw as eco friendly confetti which worked brilliantly well.

We supplied a combination of high and low flower designs for the wedding breakfast room. Large gold fish bowls were generously filled with swirled tulips, calla lilies and grasses.

Tall balls of flowers and foliages were placed on top of slender cone vases to create real drama. The colour scheme worked beautifully with the dark wood panelling and dark burnt orange walls.

The colour theme continued onto the cake which was simply decorated with fresh ‘mango’ calla lilies, swirled to create a dramatic design.

Sarah and Ben had a truly wonderful day and it was a real pleasure for us to be part of it. As florists we love an autumnal colour scheme where we can create fabulous designs using items such as twigs, pinecones, hops and moss. It certainly gets our creative juices going!
