A Busy Summer at Twisted Willow

24 Sep 2017

There’s never a dull moment in event floristry and this summer has seen us tackle everything from large scale corporate events to bespoke florals for intimate weddings.

One of our most colourful jobs was a big corporate event in conjunction with the talented team at AV Matrix. As well as providing plenty of floral colour pops we made a fun photo booth backdrop and some bright, bold and cheerful decorations.

As a florist I’m in absolute heaven in my cutting garden and it’s been wonderful to use some of our Yorkshire grown blooms for events throughout the summer.

We've had plenty of opportunities to exercise our creativity. These magnificent balls of white floral perfection were created to frame an outside evening wedding ceremony on the front lawn of the beautiful Swinton Estate and the picture on the right shows one of our staircase creations for a wedding at Swinton Park.

As anyone who follows our blogs regularly will know, we have a bit of a thing for staircase florals. We were lucky to be able to indulge ourselves at Allerton Castle by creating a stunning display which was full of English garden roses and smelt absolutely heavenly. It looked pretty amazing too, as did the 20ft long top table, which was full of fresh scented flowers.

We love it when we have personal input from our clients and for one wedding we were inspired by the groom, who always bought his lovely fiancée thick stemmed flowers such as gladioli and calla lilies for their kitchen table at home. This gave us the perfect theme for their wedding flowers. We used peach and dusky pink flowers with white gladioli which looked really pretty in the marquee for dinner. The buckets in the photograph above show the flowers for each table centre recipe ready to go to the venue to be made in situ. The other picture shows our team hard at work in the workshop.

Here's a glimpse of how the magic happens when we arrive on site. These photographs were taken during the decorating of the mantelpiece at Swinton Park, one of our favourite Yorkshire wedding venues.

It’s certainly been a busy summer in our Yorkshire event floristry workshop and we’ve enjoyed every moment. For more glimpses behind the scenes follow us on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/twisted_willow/
