Behind the Scenes at Twisted Willow Floristry

22 Oct 2015

Our spacious workshop in Ripon is a hive of activity and this is where we create our specialist wedding designs.

The main advantage of having a studio rather than a flower shop is that it allows us to dedicate time to each wedding and couple. We’re not distracted from our wedding work by customers calling in to buy flowers and we have a lovely big area to work in, with lots of accessories such as vases, candles, urns and floristry equipment to hand.

We also have space for a very large flower fridge to keep everything beautifully fresh which is a fabulous piece of kit during the warmer summer months

Before we get to work on our floral designs, we spend lots of time talking to our brides to find out what style they are wanting to achieve.

We discuss colours, flower types and combinations and added twists that will make their flowers unique.

This is an incredibly enjoyable experience for us and the bride.

By the time we get to work on the bouquets, table centres and arrangements we have an excellent understanding of the colour scheme and theme of the wedding and we have  a detailed plan to work from.

All the flowers we use are bought in fresh for each wedding and we get to work immediately to start assembling the designs.

We absolutely love the work we do and we are passionate about adding a real wow factor to every bride’s special day.

Our style is full and luxurious and we like nothing better than to suggest unusual flower and colour combinations and quirky, bold touches that will make sure your wedding flowers are stunning and memorable.

Joanna’s background in fashion and textile design means she has a wonderful eye for colour and style.

We will talk to you about exciting ways that you can carry your chosen theme through from your bouquets and buttonholes to your top table and table centres.

To discuss your wedding flowers with us please call our workshop on 01765 602 331 to arrange a visit

From time to time we also run one to one floristry courses in our workshop to teach you how to arrange flowers like the professionals. Please contact us for more information.

Huge thanks to photographer Joe Dodsworth for popping into our workshop to take these lovely pictures of us in action
