Country Garden Style With a Twist
4 Apr 2013
The country garden wedding is very on trend and each bride has her own unique interpretation of it.
From the essentially English Cath Kidston inspired meadowy look to something dreamily romantic and reminiscent of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this is a style that lends itself to individuality and creativity.
Here at Twisted Willow we love taking the classic ingredients of a country garden theme and shaking them up a bit, adding a distinctive twist to the traditional themes.
A Twist of Colour
Think country garden and pastel shades of soft and medium blues with touches of peach immediately spring to mind. Use these delicate hues as a base and contrast them with bold blooms in deep burgundy for a memorable and striking floral focus.
A Scented Twist
Country garden flowers are often highly scented. Stocks, lavender and roses are just some of the traditional English blooms that evoke the smells of summer. Think about adding herbs to a bouquet or table centrepiece for even greater aromatic impact. Adding rosemary to your floral designs adds fragrance and also signifies remembrance and commitment.
A Twist of Willow
We frequently use wood, willow and other foliage to create floral sculptures that are perfect for adding drama to an otherwise soft and muted scheme. We also have a fabulous collection of huge vases for key locations and entrances that can be filled with flowers that complement more delicate table arrangements in typical country style containers such as jam jars and jugs.
A Floral Twist
Anyone planning a country garden theme is likely to have hand tied bouquets and floral headbands on their wish list already. Think about extending the theme by using one of the flower types from the bouquet and tying a single spray to place settings and napkins. To manage the cost of the additional flowers, use sprigs of smaller headed flowers, rosemary, September flower or larkspur.
